Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: A Life-Saving Medicine

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: A Life-Saving Medicine
May marks the third anniversary of Hyperbaric Awareness Month, and the movement is gaining traction.
We celebrated some incredible successes in 2022 and 2023 will be even better. This Hyperbaric Awareness Month we invite physicians and patients alike to help spread the word about this life saving and changing medicine. In this post, we’ll discuss the benefits of HBOT and how our dedicated team, including doctors, allied health, business, and compliance professionals, will continue to support our partners with state-of-the-art solutions, continuing our mission to educate our communities on this life-changing treatment.
So what is Hyperbaric Awareness Month all about?
More than seven million people in the United States are living with chronic wounds. About 34 million people have diabetes, 25% of which will develop foot ulcers. Nearly 17 million people in the nation have been diagnosed with cancers, almost half of them will receive radiation therapy, and 10-15% will experience late effects of radiation. These conditions are two of the most common indications for hyperbaric oxygen therapy, referred to in the healthcare community as HBO2 (and, sometimes, within the general public, as HBOT).
Now that more than 8 million people are living with chronic wounds, the need for change intensifies. With HBOT therapy and treatment centers leading the way, hope remains for the thousands of patients’ lives that have been changed for the better - and with your help this number can continue to grow.
The good news in 2023 is that our HBO2 solutions continue to increase in efficacy and affordability as we help practices and hospitals like yours implement and grow their hyperbaric oxygen therapy capabilities.
Our mission to educate our colleagues and communities on this life-changing, life-saving treatment option continues with renewed energy.
Patient health and quality of life are often dramatically improved in the HBOT treatment process. And that’s a win-win for our team and the awesome physicians and healthcare professionals on the front lines in the battle against chronic wounds.
